Deleting files belonging to user Pepi1990

Hello Belbury, I see that yesterday you deleted three files uploaded by the user Pepi1990. This user is contributing to Wikimedia Argentina as part of the ‘No school without Wikidata’ campaign, and the images released were created for that campaign to highlight the biases in AI’s representation of Argentine educational institutions. They were not personal files, which is why we tagged them with the campaign’s category. Could you please restore them? Many thanks Florencia Guastavino (WMAR) (talk) 17:48, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

@Florencia Guastavino (WMAR): The files would have been deleted under COM:F10 as AI uploads which weren't in use, and which came from a user who had made no other contributions to any project. It would have been deleted by an admin - I'm not personally an admin, so can't delete files myself (or restore them), I can only tag them as being against policy.

You can discuss this with the administrator(s) who deleted the files, or - if you do not wish to do that - post at Commons:Undeletion requests to ask for the images to be restored. Belbury (talk) 18:04, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

CSD F10 nominations of Handel illustrations

Hello, I noticed that you nominated the seven illustrations I uploaded today for speedy deletion under CSD F10. I believe there may be a misunderstanding about their purpose. These are not personal files: they form an ongoing series of illustrations created in connection with editions of George Frideric Handel's libretti published by the Czech Handel Society. Each image relates to a particular Handel work and to a specific character, dramatic situation or theme in its libretto, and this educational/editorial purpose is documented in the descriptions of the files and in their series category.

I would therefore be grateful if you could reconsider whether F10, which concerns personal files by non-contributors, is applicable here. If there are other Commons scope concerns about the series, I would of course be happy to discuss them.

@Haendelcz: Hi, COM:F10 applies to personal files (including AI-generated images) of or by users who have no constructive global contributions. Such a user asking an AI to create an image is considered to be creating a personal file.

What do you mean when you say that they were "created in connection" with published works from the Czech Handel Society? Did the society commission the work? Belbury (talk) 16:22, 5 September 2026 (UTC)

Hi Belbury, thank you for clarifying. No, there was no formal commission from the Czech Handel Society. I am actively involved in preparing and publishing editions of Handel's libretti for the Society, and I created these illustrations specifically for use in those editions. They were not generated as personal images and subsequently associated with the Society; the particular Handel works and dramatic subjects were the reason for creating them in the first place.

By "created in connection with" I was trying to avoid overstating the formal relationship. A more precise description would be "created for use in editions of Handel's libretti published by the Czech Handel Society".

The editions are intended for public publication, and the illustrations correspond to particular works and specific characters, situations or themes in their libretti. The Commons category groups this continuing series: Category:Illustrations for Handel libretti by the Czech Handel Society.

@Haendelcz: Thanks for clarifying. If you're creating images which you intend to submit to the Society, uploading them to Commons sounds like it goes against COM:NOTWEBHOST.

I am preparing the libretto editions themselves for publication by the Czech Handel Society, and these images were created as illustrations for those editions. Some of the editions are already publicly and freely available on the Society's website, while the series of illustrations is intended to give them a coherent visual identity.
