    Svenska: Automatkarbin 4 REMO-variant, från Armémuseums samlingar. Donation till Armémuseum från Försvarets Materialverk i November 2001.

    Under slutet av 1990-talet tillverkades en grön version av Automatkarbin 4. Dessa vapen levererades som en försöksserie från tillverkaren mot slutet av produktionsperioden. Dessutom modifierades ett litet antal vid REMO (REnovering MOdifiering) för samma provändamål.

    De målades gröna av framför allt produktionstekniska och kostnadsmässiga skäl. Det har inte funnits någon fastställd bestämmelse som klartgjort att polisens vapen måste vara svarta och Försvarsmaktens gröna. Det är istället en vanlig missuppfattning och myt.

    Kommentar från Försvarets Materialverk:

    "Ett antal tusen Ak 4 lackerades med samma typ av färg som Ak 5 i samband med renovering. Detta avslutades då problem uppstod med toleranser mellan olika delar då vapnet ursprungligen inte var konstruerat för att lackeras. Bl.a. blev det problem med att omställaren gick för lätt att röra. Merparten av de gröna Ak 4:orna togs inte i bruk utan förrådsställdes."
